What changed in 2026
Google reviews from 2026 describe a different place from the free, 24-hour pool locals knew. A May 2026 visitor paid RM5 per entry (a yearly pass was RM80), found the gate shut until 9am and was told the hours were 9am–4.30pm. Google Maps now lists 9am–3.45pm daily. Food isn't allowed in, and a March 2026 reviewer noted you can no longer soak at night.
There is now one small pool for everyone. Reviews from February to June 2026 are split: some praise the clean, clear water, while others complain about the small pool, the open-air toilets and brusque treatment from the operator. One visitor found it closed in early April 2026, apparently for maintenance, and another found it taped off with no entry in late July 2026. Visitors were reviewing it again in August 2026, but check before you drive out. If it is shut, Pedas Hot Springs is a developed, ticketed spring in the same district.
Background
The fullest older description is a 2016 piece by Malaysia Aktif. It puts the pool beside Sekolah Kebangsaan Cengkau in Kota, Rembau, on the way to Tampin, about 10 km from Rembau town and 35 km from Seremban. Back then there was no entry charge, the landowner had built changing rooms and provided parking, and the pool was busiest at weekends, with visitors from Melaka and Kuala Lumpur as well as the surrounding villages.
Harian Metro reported on the same spring at Kampung Lada Chengkau in January 2013, as a draw for people looking for natural remedies. Locals interviewed in 2016 believed the water helped with skin problems, aches, gout and knee and heel pain, and one regular credited the sulphur in it. These are local beliefs, not tested claims.
Temperature and water
An online hot spring database lists a spring at "Kg. Lada, Rembau" at 45°C, almost certainly this one, but gives no date or method. No chemical analysis has been published.
Getting there
Drive to Rembau town, then follow the road towards Kota and Tampin. The 2016 report puts the pool about 10 km from Rembau and 35 km from Seremban, next to SK Cengkau. Our map pin is the Google Maps listing for Chengkau Hot Spring (Tanjung Berangan, 71350 Kota), so navigating to that listing is the simplest way in.
There is parking at the pool. We found no practical public transport, so you need a car or an e-hailing ride from Rembau.
