What to expect at the pools
The spring is laid out as three concentric pools under a canopy roof. The outermost ring is warm, the second ring is hot, and the centre pool is hot enough to cook an egg, so it is for egg-boiling, not soaking. Water from the second ring is pumped into a separate children's pool nearby, and SAYS describes the hotter pool as the one for adults and the cooler one for children.
No source gives measured temperatures or a water analysis, so the exact heat and mineral content are unknown. Test each ring with your hand before stepping in, and work inward from the outer ring.
Facilities
A 2017 New Straits Times visit listed a surau, toilets, a children's playground and hawker stalls on site. The 2026 SAYS listing still mentions a small playground nearby. The Google listing shows wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance and toilets, and visitors use the gazebos (wakaf) for picnics.
Google reviews from August to October 2026 confirm entry is still free, but flag upkeep problems. On public holidays in September and October 2026, reviewers found no water coming from the taps in the toilets, surau and showers, so they left sticky after soaking. An August 2026 reviewer said the toilets were dim, monkeys raid gazebos left unattended, and the nearest shops are some way off, with only a vending machine on site. Changing rooms, showers and lockers are not mentioned in any source we found, so come ready to change in the toilets.
Entry is free. There is no ticket counter and nothing to book in advance.
Best time to go
The pools open 9am to 7pm and are closed on Mondays (SAYS, July 2026). We have no crowd data for weekends or school holidays. The pools sit under a canopy roof, so a rainy afternoon doesn't rule out a visit.
Getting there
The spring is at Jalan Kolam Air Panas, Kampung Sungai Gersik, roughly 15 km from Muar town. Addresses vary between 84700 Muar, 83610 and 84150 Semerah, and OpenStreetMap places it in Sungai Balang village, so navigate by the coordinates 1.94099, 102.74221 rather than the postcode.
We could not confirm a bus that stops near the pools. Driving or e-hailing from Muar or Batu Pahat is the practical way in.
Before you go
- Bring eggs and a small net or basket if you want to boil them in the centre pool; no source says these are sold on site.
- Never put children in the centre ring. Use the separate children's pool fed from the second ring instead.
- There is no mention of changing rooms or lockers, so wear swimwear under your clothes and keep valuables in the car.
- Bring drinking water, snacks and a bottle of water to rinse off. Shops are some way off, and on public holidays in September and October 2026 the taps ran dry. Don't leave food in the gazebos: monkeys take it.
- Don't plan a Monday visit; the pools are closed that day.
- Call 06-988 1316 or check the Pusat Rekreasi Kolam Air Panas Sg. Gersik Facebook page before a public holiday visit; published hours don't say whether holidays are treated differently.
